Community members spent the night outside Saturday to help raise awareness of homelessness in the Twin Ports.

It’s the tenth annual “Night without a Home” event.

Students, volunteers and members of several local human service agencies will spend the night in the cold in City Park, next to the Superior Public Library.

The event goes from noon on Saturday until noon on Sunday.

Organizers said it’s a good way to bring attention to a problem that often gets overlooked.

The group is collecting donations to support local homeless shelters and advocates.

“We collect donations, both monetary, as well as food, blankets, etc. things that we distribute to the homeless families that we’re working with,” said Millie Rounsvile with Northwest Community Service Agency.

Donation received at the event will be distributed to several organizations that help the homeless including Harbor House Crisis Shelters, CASDA and the Human Development Center.
