UMD Hosts Diversity Summit on Campus
40 Workshops Bring an Open Dialogue About Diversity
We live in a diverse world, and students at UMD are celebrating that diversity with a conference on campus.
The Diversity Summit is an event made to bring students of all backgrounds together to talk about diversity and equity.
And more than 40 workshops allow for a free and open dialogue about people’s differences and the issues we have between those differences.
Those at the university say this kind of dialogue is important if we are to live in a diverse society.
“We also need to make sure we understand different perspectives and views, and to engage in this type of dialogue, and learn from each other,” said Susana Pelayo-Woodward from UMD’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
UMD has held this summit on campus since 2009.
