Hibbing Man Charged with Assault and Reckless Driving

Man rams an unmarked squad car as he flees police

On Thursday, September 22, 2016, members of the Boundary Waters Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force (BWDVCTF) attempted to conduct an investigatory stop on Kenneth Pogorelc after he parked his vehicle in the 100 block of 34th Street West in Hibbing.

Members of BWDVCTF approached Pogorelc and told him to exit the vehicle when he placed the vehicle into reverse and rammed into an unmarked police car positioned behind him.

Pogorelc fled the scene and drove throughout the city of Hibbing at a high rate of speed before he dumped the vehicle in the woods near Morton Road and Ansley Road in Hibbing.

Pogorelc was arrested later that night in the city of Virginia without incident.

On Monday, September 26, 2016 Pogorelc was charged in St. Louis County Court with 2 counts 2nd Degree Assault, 2 counts Criminal Damage to Property, 1st Degree and Reckless Driving.
