UMD Cardboard Boat Races Test the Waters
UMD students built cardboard boats and raced them on Rock Pond.
As part of UMD’s homecoming festivities, students took to the fierce waters of Rock Pond in the most seaworthy material, cardboard.
Students built cardboard boats and tried their best to sail them across the water.
The Mechanical Engineering Club’s annual event saw the dreams of winning it all sink real fast.
“It took a lot more work than what we thought it would be, just putting cardboard together. The best thing is putting together and making it waterproof,” said student Aaron Paulson.
Prizes were awarded for most epic fail and one team even took home the coveted award of Titanic on VHS.
