Graham Hakala

PHOTOJOURNALIST

Graham started as a production assistant at FOX 21 in July of 2013, and has since moved over to the news gathering side of the team.

Graham grew up in Keewatin, Minnesota on the Iron Range, and went to the same high school as Bob Dylan, only a few decades apart (Hibbing High School).

Graham fixed washing machines, and furnaces for a short while before moving to Duluth in January of 2011 to study writing, and journalism at UMD. While there, he was a staff reporter for the school newspaper, The Statesman. He was also the editor of the online community news website, Lake Voice News. Graham graduated from UMD in 2014.

Graham loves to read books, travel, and write in his journals. He also loves to type pages on his antique typewriters. He believes typewriters give a stronger connection to the words than anything written on a computer screen. He’s not unrealistic, though – he has both an iPad, and an iPhone.

Graham’s favorite thing about Duluth is the music, and art scenes. He thinks there is something really special happening here.
