Border Protection Officer Found Dead at Border
GRAND PORTAGE, Minn. – The Cook County Sheriff’s Office reports that around 6 p.m. Sunday, March 19, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from the Grand Portage Port of Entry where a male US Customs & Border Protection Officer was found fatally wounded. It is believed to be self-inflicted.
The name of the Officer is being withheld while the investigation continues and until an autopsy has been complete.
“This is an extremely tough loss,” said Cook County Sheriff Pat Eliasen. “He was well-known and respected in the community and protective service agencies, and our hearts and prayers are with his family, colleagues, and community during this difficult time.”
