Standoff as Officers Attempt to Execute Search Warrant

SUPERIOR, Wis. – Around 10:30 a.m Thursday, May 18, the Superior Police Department began executing a search warrant for evidence and a felony arrest warrant in the 1200 block of Harrison Street.

The Superior Police Department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) was used to serve the warrant. Attempts were made by the Crisis Response Team to negotiate with the man to have him surrender and be taken into custody, but when the man refused, ERT made entry into the house.

At the time, neighbors may have heard loud noises, as ERT deployed noise distraction devices into the home.

A male, 23, was taken into custody and taken to the St. Luke’s Hospital to be treated for self-inflicted injuries. Once medically cleared, he will be booked into Douglas County Jail, awaiting domestic abuse charged of strangulation, battery and bail jumping.
