The Strength in the Community Scholarship was created to help students reach their goals to pursue higher education in a time of rising tuition costs. Twelve finalists will receive $1,000, but one will trade in their $1,000 for a $10,000 check.
Josie be graduating from Marshall School, where she’s been honored three times with a Service Letter for completing hundreds of hours of volunteer work.
“It’s really important because I’ve done a lot of volunteer work over high school, and this is a huge part of it – it’s something I like to do,” Josie stated.
Josie said she will be the first in her family to attend college. She will be attending the University of Minnesota Duluth in the fall where she hopes to double major in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Photography. Her goal is to help assist victims of sexual assault.
She and the other finalists will find out on June 6, if she’s won the big $10,000 scholarship.
