Downtown Duluth Businesses Compete In Holiday Window Display Contest
The displays are revealed before the Christmas City of The North Parade.
DULUTH, Minn. – A big competition is underway in downtown Duluth.
The goal is to find which business has the best holiday window display.
Twenty-four downtown businesses will participate in the contest.
One of them is the 2016 winner, CSL Plasma. It takes them two to three months to come up with an idea and gather supplies.
“People of the downtown Duluth area have voted us to be a winner a number of years in a row and we appreciate it,” said CSL Plasma Manager Dennis Lofald. “Each year we try to make sure we can do it again.”
CSL hopes to have the display up by tonight.
“The comments people make about the different things that we’ve put up is just heartening to see,” said Lofald. “Downtown Duluth is a great place and the people who come down here are just wonderful.”
About five employees usually work on the display but this year the maintenance technician, Adam, decided to take the reigns of the project alone.
The window displays will be hidden by red curtains until later this week.
Other business in the contest are: Art in the Alley, Duluth Energy Systems, Duluth Pack, Duluth Trading Company, Electric Fetus, Grandma’s Marathon Office, Kitchee Gammi Design Co., Lake Superior Art Glass, Lester River Trading Co., Mainstream Fashions For Men, Market Day Duluth, Minnesota Power, Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union, Minnesota Surplus & Outfitters, PS Rudie Medical Clinic, Salon Capelli, Security Jewelers, Sheraton Duluth, Spirit Bay Duluth, Tischer Photographic Gallery, UBM, Whimsy and the YMCA.
