UMD to Perform Play by Local Playwright
"These Shining Lives" Performances Begin Thursday
DULUTH, Minn. – This week a play is opening in Duluth highlighting the struggle women faced as they advocated for a safe workplace in the 1920s and 1930s.
“These Shining Lives” will be presented March 1 – 18 in Dudley Experimental Theatre in Marshall Performing Arts Center at UMD.
Playwright Melanie Marnich was born and raised in the Morgan Park neighborhood of Duluth.
“These Shining Lives” follows the historical path that lead to legal battles eventually sparking labor safety standards reform and worker’s rights changes.
The shows will be March 1-3 and 13-17 at 7:30 p.m. and March 18 at 2 p.m. in the Marshall Performing Arts Center – Dudley Experimental Theatre.
