Two Harbors Principal Talks Ways To Avoid School Violence
Principal Jay Belcastro Believes Building Relationships with Students Is Key
DULUTH, Minn. – Area high schools are paying close attention to how threats are handled in other school districts, like at Duluth Denfeld where a student there threatened to shoot up the school Monday and later said he was just “messing around.”
Two Harbors High School principal Jay Belcastro believes the best way for schools to prevent threats and violent actions is by creating strong relationships with students.
“I think that’s really what we’re looking for in our school district is really building a place where everybody is welcome. Doesn’t matter where you come from, what your background is, what you think or agree but really a place where you’re a welcomed learner,” Belcastro said.
