TWO HARBORS-Colorful chalk drawings overtook sidewalks in Two Harbors on Saturday as part of Chalk.O.Lot - a festival promoting the temporary art.
It's the first year of the event but in similarly sized communities the get–togethers have caught on year–to–year to grow exponentially.
"One of the neat things about this type of art festival is that you can teach children how to do this stuff. And children naturally like to draw on the sidewalk anyway," Mort Mcbain, artist from Wausau, Wisconsin, said.
"We teach them with a grid system and they can actually do pretty good work once we show them the techniques," Mcbain said.
More than 30 artists used sidewalks as canvases with dozen of passers–by joining in.
