DULUTH - A swimmer was picked–up by the Coast Guard almost a mile off of Park Point Sunday evening.

The St. Louis County Rescue Squad responded to a call for a swimmer in distress around 8 p.m.

The swimmer was battling rip currents.

Authorities brought the man into shore, but it is unclear if he was struggling.

Some emergency crews waited nearly 20 minutes for a delay caused by the lift bridge.

Water crews responded normally.
