GRAND MARAIS - Cook County's Attorney is now the subject of an investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Sheriff Mark Falk says asked the BCA for an investigation on Tim Scannell after consulting with others including a district attorney from another county.
Falk says they turned to the BCA because they wanted to determine whether Scannell had committed a crime.
This after parents of a 17-year-old girl filed a restraining order against him.
After he allegedly said he was in love with her.
Falk felt there would be a conflict of interest if his department headed the investigation because of close relationships between both offices.
