Crash Sends Driver, Children to Hospital

BARKSDALE - At about 1:41 P.M. the Bayfield County Communications center received a 911 call reporting a two vehicle accident at the intersection of State Highway 13 and U.S. Highway 2 in the town of Barksdale in Bayfield County.
This intersection is currently under construction.
A 39 year old Ashland female with two passengers, one 6 and the other 7 (both in seatbelts and in the backseat), traveling south on highway 13 entered the intersection and was struck by a truck which was heading west on highway 2.
The truck was working in the construction zone.
The driver and two children were transported to Memorial Medical Center Hospital in Ashland with what is understood to be minor injuries.
The driver a 57 year old male from Hurly was not injured.
The accident is still under investigation.
Responding to the accident was the City of Ashland Fire Department, Washburn Fire Department, Washburn Area Ambulance Service and officers of the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office.
