DULUTH - A Northland college student was recognized for being the Duluth Transit Authority's one–millionth rider. It was all part of a celebration for the DTA’s U-PASS Ridership program which gives college students, faculty and staff a free ride anywhere in the Twin Ports.
It's taken the program 11 years to reach the one millionth rider milestone at Lake Superior College.
The rider got a plaque, sweatshirt and other goodies.
"I wasn't that shocked cause I thought they were kidding and then they showed me a plaque and I'm like ok you’re serious," 1 Millionth Rider Nina Van Ert said.
UMD should have its 5 millionth rider by the end of the year.
