DULUTH - Mayor Don Ness and other city officials grabbed a shovel and planted a tree Thursday.
The gathering was part of recognizing Arbor Day and the city's 23rd year of being named a Tree City USA.
The new tree is expected to be the first of hundreds planted this season in Duluth; adding to its beauty.
"Along with Lake Superior and the beautiful St. Louis River that's behind us, it's our forests that really help make this city the fantastic place to live and recreate in," Kelly Fleissner from the Duluth Tree Commission said.
Anyone interested in having a tree planted on their boulevard is asked to call Duluth Buildings and Grounds Maintenance.
