DULUTH - The Duluth City Council was presented with an update on new plans for the NorShor Theater Monday.
The $21 million project will restore the theater and eventually hand ownership over to the Duluth Playhouse.
Officials from the playhouse said the theater will serve a new purpose that the local arts community needs.
"The NorShor is going to be a unique theater operation, we're not looking to duplicate what we already have," Duluth Playhouse Executive Director Christine Seitz said. "We're looking to design something that our local arts groups don't have."
If plans move forward as expected, the NorShor Theater will be up and running in the summer of 2014.
