DULUTH-Hundreds of Duluth high schoolers ran a 5k on Wednesday afternoon to raise money for special memorial scholarships.
During the event, racer brought out a giant paper chain to help remember Clayton Deraas, Rachel Sandell, and Matt Kero - late students of East and Denfeld high school.
Race fees go to support funds set up in their honor.
"Bringing athletics into it, I mean, we have different sports teams represented and lots of people who love athletics,” Ingrid Holstrolm, a student and co-event coordinator said.
“And I know that Matt and Clayton and Rachel too, they loved sports. So it ties everything together. It's a good way to bring people together,” Holstrolm said.
Duluth Denfeld and East High School Key Clubs organized the event.
