DULUTH - Duluth city councilors will soon find out how the city compares to others across Minnesota.
Councilors voted in favor of a resolution Monday night that asks city administration to draw up a comparison between Duluth and operations in Bloomington, Rochester, St. Cloud, Minneapolis and St. Paul.
The comparisons should be completed by the summer, in time for councilors to discuss the 2014 budget.
"It makes sense to start this process instead of in September or October when we have to immediately decide the budget," Duluth City Councilor Dan Hartman said. "This will give us a little bit more time to start hopefully sinking in this information."
The comparisons will address general fund expenses, staffing levels and taxes.
