DULUTH - Law enforcement is being increased on UMD's campus this week. The Duluth Police Department is partnering with UMD police for Move in Weekend.
A $4,000 grant makes it possible for more officers to patrol the campus and surrounding areas.
They'll be on the lookout and issuing citations for things adding blight to the neighborhood like inappropriate signage, underage drinking and littering.
"They’re college students and they're here, they might only live in that house for a one year period,” said Russ Bradley with the Duluth Police Department. “But you're living next to a family of four that has some ownership and has a stake in the community because they have family they have kids and they're gonna be there before and after these college students."
Extra officers will be on campus starting this Thursday through Sunday.
