DULUTH - The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Friday that they will be giving a $2 million grant to the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District.
A state recovery agency, Minnesota Recovers, will also match the federal grant. WLSSD started damage repairs as soon as the floods hit in June and are now being re-imbursed.
“Both the federal and state government have stepped up and really helped us as municipalities and communities get back to where we were, prior to the flood,” said Marianne Bohren, executive director of WLSSD.
Bohren said most of the 20 repair projects are now complete, but repairs to the Scanlon Interceptor, which is their most expensive flood project, will not begin until the Spring.
