EVELETH - A half a dozen units responded to a fire that broke out inside Sleeve’s Sports Bar in Eveleth on Saturday morning.
Firefighters responded to the call around 9 a.m.
Officials say flames were coming through the roof of the bar when they arrived to the scene.
Firefighters also called for additional resources from more than five different departments across the Iron Range. Crews were still on the scene nearly six hours after the fire started.
The Eveleth Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the flames but officials say they got it under control just in time before the fire spread to neighboring buildings.
"We got on the scene relatively quickly, but we had smoke already coming out of the south wall of the building and out of the attic area,” Eveleth Fire Chief, Peter Makowski said.
“Although the building has extensive damage, we were able to keep the fire controlled to one building, kept it from spreading to adjacent buildings,” Makowski said.
No one was injured in the fire.
