FARGO - The Fargo Forum published some big news for same–sex couples.
The newspaper will print announcements of gay marriages, engagements and anniversaries taking place in a state where it is legally recognized.
A Fargo couple sparked the debate when they tried publishing their New York wedding announcement in the Forum's Celebration section, but were denied and had their money refunded.
The newspaper announced the policy change Tuesday.
"Really striving for equality in every aspect and this is one small aspect but it is a change and a big step forward and we're excited, said Allison Johnson, who sent her wedding announcment to the newspaper.
The Forum's Editor said Tuesday that some people would like them to deny that gay marriage is legally recognized in several states and countries, and to not recognize that fact is to deny or distort the truth.
