SUPERIOR - A semi truck full of milk and cottage cheese was up for grabs in Superior Wednesday.People waited in a line three blocks long for the dairy products.
The giveaway is a result of a Waukesha dairy processing plant closing down last week.
Instead of dumping out all of their milk and cottage cheese, the Hunger Task Force worked to get it handed out to those in need.
"Food is a huge issue for a lot of our families in this area, milk is expensive,” Northwest Wisconsin Community Services Agency CEO Millie Rounsville said. “So we took advantage of the offer because we knew we would have plenty of people that would be willing to come down here and take advantage."
A total of 700 cases of milk were handed out.
