A Free, Sober Ride Home from Douglas County

SUPERIOR - For those planning to spend New Year's Eve in Douglas County, there is a safe ride home worth knowing about.
Bars that are part of the Tavern League of Wisconsin will offer vouchers for free cab rides home within Douglas County or the City of Duluth.
People can get a voucher if they feel they had too much to drink and their car is parked at a participating bar.
Eighty bars in Douglas County are involved with about 50 in Superior alone.
Bar owners say it is a program worth taking advantage of.
"For insurance, for safety, for your life, for everybody's life around it's a no–brainer," Belknap Liquor and Lounge owner Alan Jaques said. "Ask for that ride home; don't fight it."
