Shafer Beach in Wisconsin is being used to Save an Endangered Species.
U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Minnesota and the Wisconsin DNR along with other agencies put down four gull exclosures to protect Piping Plovers.
Officials say they’ve been on the endangered species list since 1975.
They’re hoping the closed off area will promote nesting.
"It's got a long beach and it's got a fairly wide beach and piper clovers like a high rent view,” U.S. Fish and Wildlife Biologist Ted Koehler said. They like to be able to see out over the water and back up into the landscape."
The gull exclosure will be taken down after the Piping Plovers nesting season is over in June.
