DULUTH - University of Minnesota Duluth Offensive Lineman Garth Heikkinen has been named a first team pre-season All-American by the Beyond College Sports Network.
Heikkinen, a Duluth Central graduate, is a four year starter on the line for the Bulldogs.  As a junior, he earned post season All-America nods from the Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association, D2Football.com and Daktronics.
One of five senior captains in 2012, Heikkinen is a three-time All-NSIC North Division selection.
Also honored, UMD junior Defensive Lineman Chris Vandervest, who was a second team pick.
