Hermantown City Councilor Pete Stauber announced his run for St. Louis County Commissioner Monday.
Stauber made the announcement outside the Hermantown Public Safety Building.
He's been on the city council for six years.
He's also been an officer with the Duluth Police Department for more than 15 years.
If he gets the 5th Dist. commissioner seat, Stauber says he'll support safe and responsible use of natural resources to help create jobs.
"Our families, schools, existing businesses and local units of government will all prosper through positive job creation policies, supported by government officials," Stauber said.
Stauber will officially file his candidacy Tuesday.
