It’s starting to look a lot like winter in the Twin Ports, now that half-a-foot of snow has been recorded at Duluth’s Airport, but Northlanders are having mixed responses to this weekend’s storm.
“I love the snow,” Matt Branovan said. “I mean, it’s Minnesota, so it happens every single year. So, when people are freaked out about it, then why do you live here then. I love the snow, I think it’s great. I don’t even snowboard and ski and I love it.”
However, others were more cautious of hitting the roads and said they just enjoy staying in.
“When we have a snow day, and I’m not working, I like to sit around and play video games and stuff and veg out a little bit. It’s kind of nice to do that sometimes,” John Leppke said.
One local resident said although she enjoys the snow, she prefers not do drive in icy conditions.
“I do try to avoid it, if I can possibly avoid it if I don’t have to go out,” Ann Sanford said. “ I’d rather go out when the roads are definitely clearer and easier to navigate because a lot of the side streets are not plowed at all. So, sometimes as a safety point just to stay inside until everything is cleared up.”
Others did not have to worry about traveling far to enjoy all that the snow had to offer.
“The kids were inside itching to get out so we decided to come shedding and it’s their second season going down this hill, so having a good time in the winter fun,” Matt Hoeschen said.
