DULUTH - There is some good news for those heading out of town this Memorial Day weekend.
Filling up the gas tank should not hurt the pocketbook as much as last year.
The national average for a gallon of gas this weekend was reported as $3.67, down from $3.81 last year.
AAA projected that about 400,000 more people will take road trips of 50 or more miles this weekend.
However, Northlanders said prices won't be the only reason they hit the road.
"Well, of course we always look for the cheaper prices but what you can do?” traveler Virgene Trygg from Duluth said. “But it'll never stop me from going on a trip."
Triple AAA reported that 53 percent of people would not let gas prices change their travel plans for the weekend.
