Missing Woman Found in Lake Superior

BAY VIEW - At 4:20 P.M. 06/26/2012, the Bayfield County Communication Center received a report of a missing person a 60 year old female from the town of Bay View, about half way between the Cities of Washburn and Bayfield on State Highway 13.
A friend of the missing person reports that it has been several days since she has seen her friend.
The caller went to the person's home and discovered her car, purse and cell phone, but could not locate her.
Deputies arrived a short time after the call and noted lawn and garden tools near the edge of the property on the Lake Superior side of the owner's land.
Further investigation discovered a tree pruner about 5' over the ledge.
Also noted were a number of newly pruned branches.
Deputies were able to climb down about half the distance of the cliff (90 + feet), and could then see the person, who was deceased, in Lake Superior.
She was recovered with the assistance of the Washburn Fire Department and a boat of one of their members.
It is believed this is an accidental death and the name will be released after this department receives notification that her relatives have been notified.
Responding to the incident along with Bayfield County Sheriffs' deputies was the Washburn Fire Department, Washburn Area Ambulance and Bayfield County Coroner's office.
