DULUTH - A local non-profit that provides emergency services to those who are less fortunate got a hefty donation. The Damiano Center just received a nearly $15,000 donation from the Vineyard Church.
The money comes from half of the church's Christmas Eve offering.
The funds will be used for the center's operational costs, soup kitchen and clothing program.
"It's really great to get an unexpected larger chunk like that because we can't go really beyond the city very much in seeking support,” Damiano Center Executive Director David Benson said. “So it makes a big difference."
Every year close to 1,000 people volunteer at the center.
