ST. PAUL - Several new Minnesota laws took effect on Sunday.
The State House Public Information Services saying that one new law now clarifies that travel insurance does not include major medical plans which provide comprehensive medical protection for travelers with trips lasting more than six months.
Also, fines for violating aquatic invasive species laws are doubling as a new law prohibits the possession or transport of any aquatic invasive species, including Zebra Mussels, Eurasian Watermilfoil and Spiny Waterfleas.
And an extra phone call will now need to be made when a child is a crime victim.
This law will add to the custody order in a divorce agreement meaning each party must notify the other if the minor child is the victim of an alleged crime.
