DULUTH - Northland veterans got a helping hand Wednesday from a local organization. The American Legion handed out a $10,000 check to help send veterans on the next Honor Flight scheduled for May.
The group says they had been hoping to do another Honor Flight, and that this donation made it a for sure thing.
"We don't get a donation like that very often. It's a little bit overwhelming. It made us very happy it made us excited again to continue with this program," said Honor Flight Co-Chair Gary Harrington.
Organizers say initially it cost them $90,000 to host an honor flight, but since then they've figured out ways to make it cheaper.
