DULUTH - Northland veterans are getting the Vietnam Memorial ready for the holiday weekend.

For the last few weeks, vets have been busy painting, scrubbing and repairing the cement on the Northland Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

The renovation is not only to get it ready for Memorial Day, but also to preserve it.

"We won't be here forever this will be here forever. This is a learning and teaching tool,” Durbin Keeney of the MN Assistance Council for Veterans said. "It's an opportunity for the family members to see what we've done."

A memorial day celebration will be held at the site May 30.
