DULUTH - Northlanders braved the cold to dig in the snow for gold Wednesday morning. It was all for part of 95 KQDS's KQ Gold Rush at Spirit Mountain.
Ninety-five finalists went through a couple feet of snow with only their hands to get ahold of a bunch of prizes which included a certificate for an ounce of gold.
The man who won the big prize says he wasn't expecting to find it.
"I just picked a spot and started kicking away at the snow and then started digging and then finally, i just kicked a little more," said Mike Edmundson of Virginia.
Edmundson is still deciding whether to keep the gold or cash it in.
