PROCTOR - Local Police educated parents on how to keep their kids safe on the web.
Proctor Public Schools along with local police departments held a cyber-training workshop for parents and adults Thursday at the Proctor High School auditorium.
The presentation gave parents advice on how to keep their children safe while they text, surf, and post online.
“Studies have shown that the more time parents take to talk to their kids about what are expected of them, what’s appropriate and what’s inappropriate, the less likely they’ll find their children in trouble whether it comes to online or use of a cell phone,” said John Parenteau, a detective with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.
Police advise parents and students to check the safety settings on all of their social media accounts.
