DULUTH-The Park Point Fire Hall officially closed on Sunday.
After nearly 100 years of an emergency response team beyond the aerial lift bridge, members of the Park Point Community Club spoke out against the closure.
The closure comes after the official date was delayed one month for additional community input.
"It's not just a psychological issue. It's that there is a real desire to know and to have that response when you need it and when the bridge is up because time is everything," Jake Kapsner said during a press conference on Sunday.
Fire officials report response times will not be affect by the change.
