DULUTH - After months of controversy, the Park Point Fire Hall was auctioned off Friday.
The bidding started off at $175,000.
Bob and Laura Goewey who live on Park Point bought the 2,800 square foot hall for $235,000.
The couple says they will keep the current structure of the building and plan to remodel it so they can live there.
"I'm quite elated and it's probably going to sink in a little bit over time," said Bob. "It'll be a great project for us, quite an endeavor."
"It'll be a great summer," said Laura.
The Goewey's will need approval from city councilors next month before they can make the final purchase.
