DULUTH - People gathered in Duluth to show support for a proposed high- speed rail line on Saturday morning.
The Northern Lights Express would provide passengers a way to travel between Duluth and Minneapolis in about two hours.
Local leaders, including Congressman- Elect Rick Nolan and student supporters joined forces to explain why they felt the project would be a good addition to the area.
"Bringing more projects like this that expand out from the dense areas of Minnesota to places like Duluth and the rural areas for more of a connected mass transit system could very much benefit us," said Jason Reid, a UMD student, said.
Similar gatherings also got underway in Hinckley, Saint Paul and Coon Rapids.
