DULUTH – Nearly 300 purses were up for grabs at Sprit Mountain, Thursday.
It was all part of the Women’s Leadership Council’s third annual fundraiser for Imagination Library, a non-profit which provides books to needy children.
People can buy purses ranging from $15 to $500.
Organizers say it’s an important cause to help kids get ready for school.
"As many as 50 percent of the children in our country aren't ready for school when they enter kindergarten. One of those big factors is that they may not have books at home to read with their parents,” Women’s Leadership Council Co-chair Anita Zager said.
Purses were donated from across the country.
Organizers hope to raise more than $12,000.
