DULUTH - The fourth annual Bentleyville celebration kicked off Saturday night after a big crowd watched Santa Clause skydive into Bayfront before the lights turned on.
Organizers said there were several new displays worth checking out and were confident it would be another successful year, thanks to the loyal volunteers and visitors.
"I think it's the people helping to set the whole project up; we've got a great core of volunteers that come down in September and start helping put the whole thing together," event creator and organizer Nathan Bentley said. "Then when you see tens of thousands of people it just makes it well worth it, especially on a night like tonight; perfect weather, thousands of people here, Santa Clause flying in, it's a great night."
Bentleyville will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
The event, along with cookies and hot chocolate, are provided at no cost.
Parking costs $5.
