DULUTH - A Duluth city official tells FOX 21 the condemnation notice at the Seaway Hotel may likely be lifted on Monday, leaving tenants in their homes after all.
Keith Hamre, the city's Director of Planning and Construction Services, says Seaway owner Rick Caya has secured a $100,000 loan from the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund.
This is on condition that Caya make urgent repairs to the building, including fixing the badly damaged leaky roof and electrical system.
Hamre says he expects a detailed timely plan of action from Caya on Monday.
If approved, the condemnation notice will be lifted that day and all roughly 70 tenants won't have to worry about finding a new place to live.
