DULUTH - The first major blast of winter had come and gone Monday, but there was still concern from the City of Duluth after one of its plow trucks got in a mess of a situation, creating one close call for the driver and anyone in his way.
Thankfully, the driver was not injured, but city officials say the accident is a strong reminder that winter weather is here and you won't win against a plow.
The accident happened over the weekend on Pleasant View Road. The snow plow could be seen flipped on its side.
Kelly Fleissner, with the city's maintenance fleet, says June's flash flooding even played a part in the accident.
Pleasant View was heavily damaged by rushing water, and since it's been fixed, the sides of the roads are much deeper than before.
"We haven't had a situation like what occurred this weekend in our 30 years," said Fleissner.
Besides this accident, Duluth police say there were more than 40 other reported accidents. A police car was even slammed into because of slippery roads.
