SUPERIOR - After a decade of being forgotten, six Douglas Co. veterans will finally be put to rest.
While looking for a deceased friend at Superior funeral homes, Joe Penney came across five other veterans waiting to be buried.
In order to give the soldiers the respect they deserve, Penney raised close to $5,000 from 125 different businesses and individuals to cover the burial cost.
Greenwood Cemetery has also waived all burial fees in order help.
"I do think its really important, you know, to honor our vets. No vet goes without an honorable burial," said Terri Hammerbeck, the Office Administrator at Greenwood Cemetery.
Two of the veterans fought in World War Two, two from the Korean War, and two from the Vietnam War.
