DULUTH-Taking over the boards set-up at the Suites Hotel in Canal Park, more than 80 chess players squared–off in the Twin Ports Open on Saturday.
Organizers say it is the largest tournament North of the Twin Cities that has ever been held.
"These games are all tense and they're a good fight. And sense we have all these good players it's a good idea because people can improve by playing those players," organizer Dane Zagar said.
Chess Grand Master and two time United States Champion Alex Yermolinsky attended the event.
