DULUTH - The UMD Marching Band has been getting ready to start the school year with a performance at the State Fair.

The band finished up Day 3 of practice Wednesday.

On Saturday, they will head down to the Great Minnesota Get–Together.

The band's director said the event is a good payoff after days of serious practice. "

We just use it as a little caveat at the end of the camp to kind of say thanks and we go down there and we play, represent UMD then eat as much food on a stick as we can, " band director Dan Eaton said.

The group has been working on the fundamentals and basics for several hours each day.
