SUPERIOR - The owner of a home that stood in the way of a multi-million dollar project in Superior has moved forward with a purchase agreement to sell his home Friday. Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen confirmed with FOX 21 that the Super One project off of E. 2nd St. and 22nd Ave. E. will move forward with construction next spring or summer.
The year of uncertainty for the project came after one of 27 homeowners refused to sell his home on the would-be lot.
Hagen said the new store will help revitalize the business district in the East End of town.
Many local business owners agree.
"We've seen all of the houses come down and now we'll see progress," Pudge's owner Sara Haugen said. "It's going to be so great for Superior; it’s just going make East End so much better."
Hagen said the store will bring 110 new jobs and can expect about 12,000 cars to pass by each week.
