UPDATE: Train Crash Victim Identified
KELSEY - On Wednesday morning around six the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to reported car vs. train crash.
The accident occurred at the BNSF railroad crossing on Arkola Rd near the intersection of Parssinen Rd.
A BNSF train was stopped with mechanical problems.
It was blocking the intersection.
A 1993 Ford Explorer was eastbound on Arkola Rd.
There were areas of dense fog in the vicinity at that time.
The railroad crossing is marked with a stop sign, but there is no flashing light or stop arm at this crossing.
The vehicle drove into the side of the train.
First aid, including CPR was performed by citizens at the scene and then by medical personnel.
However, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim is Adam Sharp, 28, who authorities say was driving to work when the accident happened.
The incident remains under investigation.
